Here is a modified MXR Distortion+ reissue in Excellent cosmetic condition. This example retains the familiar two-knob Distortion+ layout but has been internally modified with a vintage 1983 LM741 op-amp and germanium clipping diodes, along with additional changes inspired by Brian Wampler’s well-known Distortion+ modifications. The result is a hotter, fuller take on the classic circuit, with more available gain and a stronger, more consistent response as the Distortion control is pushed.

Full Description
The MXR Distortion+ is one of the simplest and most recognizable distortion circuits in pedal history.
Built around a single op-amp stage followed by germanium hard clipping, the original design is known for its raw, compressed distortion, simple two-control layout, and distinctive transition between overdrive and fuzzier distortion textures.
This reissue has been modified to push that basic circuit further.

Modifications
This pedal has been fitted with:

• Vintage 1983 LM741 op-amp
• Germanium clipping diodes
• Additional circuit modifications inspired by Brian Wampler’s published MXR Distortion+ mod work

The LM741 is historically appropriate to the Distortion+ circuit family and contributes to keeping the pedal close to the architecture of vintage examples.
The germanium clipping retains the softer, compressed clipping character associated with the classic Distortion+ design.
The additional modifications increase the available gain and help retain more fullness as the Distortion control is turned up, addressing one of the characteristics of the stock circuit, which can become thinner at higher gain settings.
Sonically, this version has a deeper and more aggressive distortion character than a stock modern Distortion+, while still retaining the familiar grainy, compressed feel of the original design.

The two controls remain straightforward:

• Output controls overall volume
• Distortion controls gain and clipping intensity

At lower settings, the pedal can work as a gritty boost or overdrive.
As the Distortion control is increased, it moves into a thicker, more compressed distortion with a pronounced growl and vintage-style texture.
This is not a stock MXR Distortion+. It is best viewed as a modified take on the classic circuit for someone who wants the familiar Distortion+ character with additional gain and a fuller response.

Condition
Excellent cosmetic condition.
The enclosure is exceptionally clean with minimal visible wear.
The pedal has been tested and is fully functional.
