(USED) Jim Merrill has a deserved reputation as a legendary interpreter of classic Martin guitar designs, his instruments are known for being lightweight, responsive, and having that dry vintage thing in spades. This OM is a very fine example, we're impressed!
Nice color on the Adirondack spruce top, Cocobolo back and sides with mostly 28-style appointments like herringbone top trim, ivoroid binding and three-ring rosette. It has a pyramid bridge, which is a nice touch. It has an ebony fingerboard with short-pattern diamond/square inlays, zipper backstrip and ivoroid bridge pins. Waverly tuners. 1 3/4" nut, 2 5/16" string spacing at the saddle, long 25.4" scale. The mahogany neck has a "V" profile, but not overly chunky.
The condition is very good with a couple very small book-matched fissures in the Cocobolo back having been stabilized. There was also a 1/2" section where the back was pulling away from the kerfed lining, near the tail block, and that has been addressed as well. The frets are in excellent shape and show almost no wear. Includes Ameritage hard case.
