This guitar, to my best knowledge, was built in the late 1970 s. It is made of very high-quality, solid mahogany, and has a piezo Barcus Berry pickup with volume and tone control. The pickup does a particularly decent job for its age. The guitar is clean aside from one ding (pictured in the top). It has clear top and bottom pickguards. There are no cracks or checks. I replaced the nut and saddle with bone. I replaced the pegs with new high-quality pegs. The frets are freshly leveled and polished, and have plenty of life left. The guitar has a unique bridge that adds to its' good looks. It is setup to play with excellent action and wonderful sound.
Terada, a Japanese musical instrument manufacturing company, has an intriguing history.
- Terada was established in 1912 as a toy violin maker.
- Around 1955, they shifted their focus to creating proper stringed instruments, including guitars.
- During the 1970s, Terada operated three factories near Nagoya, Japan, where they produced over 10,000 guitars per month for both domestic and overseas markets.
- Terada played a crucial role in the Japanese guitar industry by producing guitars for various well-known brands.
- They manufactured OEM guitars for companies such as Hoshino Gakki (Ibanez), Arbiter, Charles Summerfield Ltd (Ibanez, CSL, Cimar & Sumbro), J.T Coppock (Antoria), Kanda Shokai (Greco guitars), and Yamaha.
