Early 1970s Citation SG (Ampeg Stuper Stud) - MIJ - Maxon Humbuckers - OHSC - Very Nice
Here we have an early 1970s Citation SG which is the same build as the Ampeg Super Studs of the same area (we have one, check our other listings), no doubt originating in the same factory in Japan.
Citation was a brand of US distributor Grossman and Co. out of Cleveland, Ohio and imported these.
This is a really nice example. The tuners have been changed to gold Grover types. Somewhere along the way it got a new Graphtech nut - the truss rod cover is missing, probably to acommodate the new nut. One bridge screw and spring has been replaced.
The Maxon Humbuckers read 8.37K at the bridge and 8.45K at the bridge. Excellent sounding and very desirable pickups — probably the finest humbuckers to come out of Japan during this era.
This plays really nice with low action. It's currently set up with .10s. Frets have plenty of life left.
The Bigsby type trem functions as it should and sounds cool.
Wear is commensurate with age. See photos.
With Citation branded OHSC pictured.
