  • For your consideration -- a fully-cleaned and refurbished 1969-70 Slingerland Tempo King Bass Drum Kick Pedal. It is ready to play out of the box and to complete a vintage kit.
  • It has had the squeaks taken out of it and has been fully disassembled, has had bearings cleaned and repacked with lithium grease; it sports a new leather strap, a new spring assembly (with felt in spring to quiet noise), and leather pads on base clamp frame toes to receive hoop.
  • This vintage leather strap Tempo King is responsive, quiet, and smooth. It feels great to play. It is set for lightweight play. But it can be adjusted for medium to heavier play by moving the knurled cam one or two positions to the left. It's up to the player to dial in the stroke for maximum comfort.
  • To diminish heel noise (similar to the Ludwig Speed King "squeak"), I've gotten rid of the old rivet pin and added a bolt with mylar washers, teflon, lithium grease, and a locking nut.
  • I have also replaced two other pins w/bolts and locking nuts to tighten the metal links under the footboard. By stiffening these joints, I've decreased any rattling sounds by creating one solid arm.
  • This Slingerland footboard has some wear but all the lettering is crisp. Some rub underneath that has been Dremel smoothed and cleaned.
  • The bass clamp is complete with spring for easy on/off hoop action; one T-rod on back of clamp was replaced with a hex bolt that does the job nicely and won't rub the underside of the footboard anymore.
  • This pedal is truly a must-have for any vintage drum enthusiast, collector, and/or player.
  • The frame's paint is 7/10 and isn't too bad. Check out the photos. Chrome is nice and pedal has hardly any rust. There are a few tiny hairlines to be noted.
  • It comes with a vintage 60s Ludwig beater that still has some life left.
  • See the advertisement from a late 60s Slingerland catalog for additional information.
  • The "Tempo King" was my first pedal, and this pedal's unique design delivers a classic and vintage feel that will take you back to yesterday and hopefully put a smile on your face.
  • Best of all, it's American-made by Slingerland. A company that built drums to last. This pedal is super durable and built to last for another 50 years. It is perfect for musicians who want to add a touch of nostalgia to their sound or complete a vintage kit rebuild.  The new owner will really enjoy this setup; it plays great and best of all, it is quiet.
  • Email me with any questions and please look at all photos.  Thanks for stopping.
