The Macrodose was built in collaboration with Brian Marshall of Subdecay, and the brief was clearly to make the deepest envelope filter available rather than the simplest. The circuit is fully analog — the filtering itself is warm and organic — but the control system is digital, which is how they fit 11 operating modes and 7 LFO shapes into a single pedal without it becoming unusable.
Standard envelope modes respond to your pick attack the way a classic auto-wah does — dig in and the filter opens, back off and it closes. But the Macrodose also does sample-and-hold, step filter, triggered LFO, pixelated filter, and random envelope, which means you can get from classic funk into Zappa territory and beyond without changing pedals. The LP/BP/HP toggle switches the filter type. An expression pedal input gives you real-time manual sweep control over most modes.
It's not a set-and-forget pedal — it rewards time spent with it. If you want one envelope filter that covers every application you'll ever have for the format, this is a serious candidate.
Comes with blank backplate for pedalboard mounting. Made in USA. 9V DC only.
