Up for sale is "Kenji," a rare Ibanez acoustic guitar directly from Steve Vai’s personal collection (SV Archive #57). Notably, this is the ONLY non-cutaway Ibanez dreadnought listed in his official guitar gallery (as shown in the second and third photos).
Vai owned and cherished this guitar for over two decades before it was acquired through Julien's Auctions in 2022. According to Vai's original inventory tag on the case, "Kenji" was kept in his famous Harmony Hut studio, the creative sanctuary where he spends most of his time.
Provenance & Authenticity: To ensure flawless provenance, the sale includes the original Julien’s Auction lot card, the official studio tag, and the auction catalog featuring this exact instrument.
Condition & Specs: Crafted in 2000, the guitar features a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, a mahogany neck, and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge. It remains in fantastic condition, showing only minor pickguard swirls and a couple of light scuffs on the back, honest play wear from a guitar legend.
Remarkably, the guitar is still setup with the exact strings it had when it left Vai's possession. It is a phenomenal player and sounds incredible; the fact that Steve kept it for more than 20 years truly says it all.
Case & Shipping: It comes in its original hardshell case, featuring the original handwritten labeling tape applied by Vai or his guitar tech. It will be professionally packed and shipped with the utmost care.
