Founded in 1986, 'Kenneth Lawrence Instruments' is a world-class custom guitar/bass manufacturer in Arcata, northern California, a city rich in nature, and is made by luthier Ken Lawrence. In consideration of the environment, rare materials are used as little as possible, and the instruments are made of sustainable wood. Lawrence himself processes and carefully finishes the instruments without compromise, and the specifications are different for each instrument to meet the needs of each customer. Rather than responding to large demands, he places importance on making instruments that are satisfactory for each order, so the number of instruments made per year is very limited, only about a dozen to 20.

This instrument is a 33-inch custom 6-string model of the 'Brase II' that uses an alder hollow chamber body.
The body is 47-51mm thick, gradually thickening from the horn to the bottom, and the edges are smoothly beveled to create a thick chamber body. This guitar has an acoustic sound and a warm, rounded sound due to the mid-range components of alder.

The 33-inch scale, which is 1 inch (2.54 cm) shorter than the regular scale, makes it slightly more compact, reducing the stress when playing a multi-string bass, which is difficult to mute. In addition, Lawrence's instruments do not have a strong personality that is easily recognizable at first listen, but rather have a solid, easy-to-handle bass-like sound, which is one of the elements that makes them popular for a long time.
