1962 Framus Barcelona model classical gut string guitar

Today we have a nylon guitar that’s been kicking around Vibes for decades. One 1962 Framus classical guitar. The reason she is still around is because she sounds ideal for recording and has the easiest of action! She can play by her self! Made in West Germany in March of 1962 this Barcelona model is a very early example without the truss rod, regardless it’s never had it’s neck reset and is beyond stable /tempered to the finest degree. Fantastic and lasting build by the Germans, “Built in the heart of Bavaria”. Serial 40391, Engleman spruce top, sapelli mahogany back, sides and neck, rio rosewood fingerboard, not ebony as declared in the catalog! Stainless steel frets, wood inlayed rosette and an arch back. Vibes considers this in good condition and not very good because of the tuners being changed in the 70’s with a Japanese maker, there are 2 repaired cracks, one to the left of the sound hole and one on side of the bottom bout were it sits on your leg, all have been stable For years now. No wear to the frets, definitely a benefit from gut strings, action is very low with plenty of room to hit the strings as hard as you like without them bottoming out. The bridge is flat to body with no sign of separation. Comes with a early 70’s American case in very good condition with all the latches in working order and a 50’s Selmer polishing cloth.
