A select few instruments at the Fender Custom Shop are hand-built by their Master Luthiers, the same folk that build custom instruments for the likes of Geddy Lee, Steve Harris, Michael Landau, etc. This 1955 Ultimate Relic Stratocaster, Masterbuilt by Custom Shop craftsman Jason Smith, is one of those instruments.

With three handwound Custom Shop '50s Strat single-coils wired to a five-way switch for full-bodied neck pickup sounds, quacky "in-between" tones, and biting treble leads, you can have classic rock, gritty blues, and that sparkily clean Strat tone with just about any amp you put it through.
