Here for sale we have a Westone Prestige 250 electric guitar in Cremona finish. Made in Japan in 1982, this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a Mahogany body with carved Tiger Flame Maple top, Mahogany neck and 22 fret bound Ebony fingerboard. This guitar is fitted with Gold hardware including Tune-O-Matic style bridge and Westone tailpiece, as well as Westone sealed tuning machines. The pickups installed are a pair of Westone humbuckers, which are wired to a 3-way toggle switch, independent volume controls and independent 'PEQ' tone controls which allow you to run the humbuckers in parallel mode for a more single-coil-esque sound.
The Mahogany neck plays well, with a profile that might be described as a slim 'D' shape that sits comfortably in the hand and promotes ergonomic thumb positioning for both chord and lead playing. The slenderness of the neck certainly does accommodate the more technical player, feeling nice and fast for solos and speedy playing. The Ebony fingerboard is luxurious under the fingers, and nicely accentuated by the binding. The 12" radius offers a flat and consistent playing surface right the way up the register, with the set-neck and sculpted heel ensuring that access to the upper frets is unobstructed. At 8.8lbs, this guitar is reassuringly weighty on the shoulders, but the smooth lines and generous contours of the body enhance comfort when playing for extended periods of time.
The pair of Westone humbucking pickups deliver thick and full-bodied tones, well suited to blues, rock and even metal genres. The neck pickup offers plenty of clarity and bell-like chime for clean sounds whilst providing a nicely broad and punchy tone for solos and lead lines. The bridge pickup is brighter and delivers a high output that will drive your amp into a beautifully saturated harmonic distortion, pushing your rock rhythm lines right to the front of the mix. The 'PEQ' tone controls are an interesting retro feature, with a notch in the middle that allows you to roll the pickup into parallel mode for a thinner single-coil style sound, whilst still functioning as a traditional tone control on the other side of the notch.

Aesthetic Condition:
Headstock: Overall very good condition. Light scratching is present to all surfaces, most noticeably to the treble side of the front face near the B string machine head. Light denting which has damaged the finish is present to the rear face, top edge and both side edges of the headstock. A section of the rear face to the treble side above the G tuner appears to have been chipped at some point and has been refinished to an acceptable standard by a previous owner.
Neck: Overall very good condition. Light scratching to the fingerboard and rear of the neck is invisible under direct light from certain angles. This is noticeable across the whole register but does not negatively impact the playability of the instrument. Light indentation which lightly pierces the finish is present to the bass side rear of the neck in the lower register. This is lightly felt in the playing position.
Body: Overall good condition. Light scratching and denting to all surfaces of the body is invisible under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes. The most noticeable scratching is present to the rear face lower bout, bass side where the finish is lightly pierced. A previous owner has carried out a finish repair to the lower horn. The grain of the wood is visible, along with indentation to the tip. The repair is nonetheless stable and acceptable. Further less noticeable finish repairs are present to the lower bout treble side of the rear face and to the bass side of the rear face on the upper horn. More signs of finish repair are visible to the bass side edge of the lower bout.
Condition of Frets:
The frets show moderate signs of use, not affecting playability. Denting and flattening of the frets is most noticeable through the lower register. There is considerable material remaining for any future work the new owner may wish to perform. Some fret ends are lifting and we have been unable to seat them. This currently does not impact playability and should not worsen if stored correctly.
