1979/80 Kramer DMZ 5000 aluminium neck bass in great playable condition and in good working order with the original custom colour black gloss finish.

The DMZ series was a top end instrument in the day, offering featuring custom-designed DiMarzio (hence the DMZ model name) pickups, providing both the thump and cut of a P-style split coil with the midrange-forward growl of a J-style single coil.

The neck features Kramer’s patented aluminium t-shape Ebanol fretboard that has the tonal properties one associates with ebony, with a very smooth and resilient surface, retaining the original medium jumbo frets that have plenty of life. 33 3/4” scale with a straight neck. The original aluminium nut is present, as are the original Schaller tuners which turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, one is slightly bent but works fine.

All the electronics function as intended, with the stock DiMarzio pickups wired to dedicated Volume and Tone knobs, with a three-way pickup selector mini toggle, and individual two-way mini toggle Tone switches for the pickups. The wiring harness is mainly original, one volume pot was replaced about 10 years ago as the spline for the knob had broken.

The black finish is road worn as this bass has been gigged many times but for the last fifteen years has only seen the studio. So please take a good look at the photos, this instrument has real presence and character, it plays great and it sounds amazing, it has been hardly used in the last five years, as I have pretty much stopped recording.

A gigbag is included, note that the bass is also advertised else ware.
