2 - AKG “The Tube” Vintage Condenser Microphones 1985 | Factory Matched Pair

Pair of original AKG ”The Tube” Microphones in original cases.

I ordered the mics as a MATCHED PAIR from the factory in 1985. You can see the serial numbers are very close (0592 and 0620). Basically the factory would test them and grab the closest matching pair in the line. These mics have been side by side since new.

Both microphones are in good condition and work. They have been stored in their cases in a climate controlled room (same room that I store my guitars in).

As you can see in the photos, I did plug them and they do power up. I have no reason to think they do not work just like they did when I last used them. If I recall, one unit has a slight ground hum which is easily identified and corrected. One of the preamps is missing the tip of the knob (the back circle that shows the direction), which is purely cosmetic and can be replaced.

If you look closely, you will see the metal gold windscreens are slightly misshapen. I understand this was typical and normal for these mics. I also understand it is easily correct, by disassembling the mics and reshaping the metal windscreen. I never did this as it did not affect the sound or function of the mic.
