Newer & More Improved Rack Ears!!  The previous version allowed the user to mount the mixer flush OR recessed in the rack.  But, when using flush mount, some of the ventilation holes were blocked by the ears.  The latest version, I'm calling "Gen 3", has a ventilation grid that matches up very well with the vent holes on both the Behringer and Midas mixers.

These rack ears fit the Behringer XR18 mixer, as well as the others listed in the title.  If recess mount is chosen, the ears recess the mixer so that the handles are flush with the front of the brackets (see picture).  This allows cables to remain plugged in with minimal interference from the rack cover when closed.

The price is for a pair of rack ears, so you can mount one (1) mixer into a road case or rack.

If flush mount is chosen, the face of the mixer is flush with the rest of the rack equipment.  And all the ventilation holes are still fully open.

Pass through holes allow cables to easily pass from the rear of the rack to the front of the mixer.

The brackets are strong! 3D printed, and made from PLA Plus material, which is equivalent in strength to ABS material.  It is made with a 100% infill - making these parts solid plastic. Extra thick, with all right angle interior corners reinforced by design. Note the stacks of quarters in the pictures, showing the thickness in millimeters of the two mounting surfaces.

I also learned there are rack cases out there that are a bit narrower than the standard opening.  As a result, my earlier rack ears required a bit of "width reduction", on the order of 1/8 to 3/16" overall.  because the overall width of the unit with the ears interfered with the rack.  This issue has been completely solved.  These ears mounted on the mixer yield an overall width of the mixer at 18-15/16", which is within the 19" "standard" rack opening.

Finally, a word about "droop": As you know, these parts are made out of plastic, whereas the OEM parts are made from steel. Because of this, we highly recommend mounting the mixer so that there is something supporting it from underneath, whether it’s the bottom of your rack, or simply another piece of equipment that provides support to the underside of the mixer, such as a power conditioner or a splitter. My photos in this ad do NOT show the mixer being supported. I have subsequently lowered my mixer 1 RU, so that it sits on top of my power amplifier, and there is no gap between the two pieces of equipment. The more the mixer is supported, the less likelihood you’ll encounter any issues.

The reason is because if the mixer is NOT supported from underneath AND the equipment rack is exposed to temperatures greater than about 120 Degree F for a prolonged period of time, for example in a cargo trailer exposed to the sun all day, it is possible that the plastic in the ears will soften slightly and mixer will droop down toward the rear, and this will deform the rack ears.

Should your rack ears ever droop, the good news is there's a simple fix:

1) Remove the rack ears and place them in a warm (100 Degrees F) oven for about 10 minutes but, watch them carefully. They will return to their normal shape. Remove them and let them cool, then

2) Re-mount the mixer either at the bottom of the rack, or mount another piece of equipment directly underneath the mixer, so that the weight of the mixer is supported by something in addition to the rack ears.

These two steps should solve the droop issue.
