Ampeg Long Scale 5-String Bass One Of A Kind Sample/Prototype

Ampeg sample/prototype 5-string bass. One of a kind 34" long scale in overall excellent condition.

Ampeg basses by SLM were short scale. Twelve long scale basses were produced by the FujiGen Gakki factory in Japan for Ampeg (SLM era) to use to demo their amplifiers to touring artists that preferred long scale basses. None of the twelve basses were exactly alike, each one being one of a kind.

This particular bass has a metallic seafoam green body with matching headstock. Maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. Ampeg branded tuning machines. Not sure what wood was used for the body. The control cavity is painted, so couldn't tell there. Weight: 8 pounds, 15 ounces. There is one chip on the lower horn and the neck plate has tarnish marks (both pictured). The strings are riding pretty close to the edge of the fretboard by the body (pictured). I tilted the saddles of the G and B strings toward the center of the bridge to bring the strings away from the edge of the fretboard the best I could. Seems to play fine the way I have it set up. Nice Action. Comes with TKL padded gig bag.
