In 1969 I was very fortunate to see Jimi Hendrix in Nuerenburg, Germany. He played a Strat for all songs except for Red house when he went behind his amps and came back playing a white Gibson SG Custom. Wow!! I had never seen such a beautiful guitar! I had to have one. Living in Germany it took 3 months for shipment from the States (which is a very long time for a 16-year old). The guitar has been with me ever since.

Now the time has come for me selling this guitar.

The guitar is in a pristine condition.  Used 99% for home recording.

About 25 years ago I had a guitar shop in Charlotte, N.C. replace some of the golden parts in order to preserve and protect the original, which I still have of course. One of the original tuning machine heads is missing.

The guitar did not come with a case so the store gave me a German-made case made by Hoyer which fits perfectly.

In regards to the heel, because I’ve been asked before, a comment from a pro-shop called SoloDallas:

Quote from SoloDallas:

I am being told that heels varied quite much during those very years – 1967-1971 – and that a 1969 Gibson SG standard might still sport the 1967 heel type (I have one coming to me just with that feature in fact!). This could/would mean that Gibson guys had laying around parts made during previous years – not uncommon at the time – and were assembling guitars with what they had as leftovers parts. Which makes these stories – and dating these guitars – even more fascinating, with lots of exceptions to the rules and so on.
