Who the 101MS Oboe Reed Is For

The Jones 101MS is a Medium Soft long-scrape oboe reed made for oboists who want a commercial reed that aligns with modern professional scrape conventions. The Medium Soft strength is a practical choice for players who prefer a more flexible response and easier articulation, including advancing students, doublers, and professionals looking for a reliable, consistent option for rehearsals or teaching.

What distinguishes the 101MS within the Jones lineup is its long scrape and the amount of hand work involved in final preparation: nearly every reed receives additional hand scraping before final inspection. This helps the reed speak more predictably and supports fine-tuning by the player to match individual instruments and playing concepts.
