ESP 48th St Custom Shop Rare Reverse Headstock Original Paperwork Super Strat 1986/1987 - Red

This is a one off, Hendrix inspired, reverse headstock, Super Strat! Extremely rare, especially with all the original order receipts from ESPs legendary 48th Street Custom Shop in NYC. Truly a collectors piece, it’s all original other than one replaced volume knob. It’s in near mint condition with minimal nicks, scratches, scuffs, or marks of any kind. Please see the pictures, I do my best to show any imperfections up close and clear.

I was told this guitar was entirely made in the USA at the 48th Street Custom Shop by ESPs Master luthiers. The original owner, who I purchased it from, told me he personally met one of the luthiers who hand made his neck on the floor above the shop. He made multiple trips to the shop during the making of his guitar from mid December of 1986 to late February of 1987, all documented by his purchase slips. He claimed to have been given a tour of the shop by his friend who worked there, and first hand saw the whole process. If you’re so inclined, you can research online and see there are a lot of other first hand accounts making the same claims. I also understand it is widely accepted The 48th Street custom shop used made in Japan parts and only assembled them in NYC, which is the story I tend to believe.

This guitar has spent almost its entire life in its original case (that looks to have been purchased across the street by the purchase slip), and the strings look to be very old. I imagine it could use a setup to the future owners’ preference. I was very surprised how well it played after around 30 years of being stored away without a setup.
