Ciao Ragazzi e Ragazze! We have here a very nice survivor example of mid-60's Italian guitar heritage. Although the headstock and pickguard are emblazoned with VOX, the venerable pride of the English Isle, this instrument was built by Italian Infamous guitar makers EKO. As such, this is a quirky, kinky, funky-yet-functional, rock & roll machine. This instrument was stored untouched for quite a few years before being lovingly disassembled, cleaned, polished, setup, and brought back to life by the Grimway Guitars team. This instrument is all original, with the exception of a replacement 3-way blade switch (original included with the instrument), replacement switch tip (original was missing), and added roller-sleeve to the trem-bar. The quality of the hardware on this instrument is actually quite good and functional. Originally the front break angle bar on the Bigsby "style" vibrato unit had individual rolling clear plastic saddles, a number of which were cracked, missing pieces, or brittle to the point of unusable. While we are including the remaining ones (and original 3-way toggle) with the guitar, we fitted a nice little roller sleeve to the bar, which functions fantastically and looks great. These guitar also originally featured a very interesting little set of caps and resistors attached in series to the original toggle switch. EKO was known to artificially "shape" the output of the pickups within the circuit in this manner, to varying degrees of useability (and sound quality). While the original Output Jack (switchcraft), volume and tone pots (original and in fantastic shape) are still present, including a majority of the original harness, we chose to not re-create that particular portion of the harness, opting to simply utilize the output of the all original Neck and Bridge pickups directly into the new switch. The result really helps these pickups shine, and the sound quality is fantastic for low-output single coils (5.4K and 5.6K respectively). Frets on this little beauty are in fantastic shape, as is the original bound rosewood fretboard. These guitar have incredibly straight necks with very useable Truss Rods (EKO's patented Double-T neck truss). The bridges are also incredibly solid, with roller saddles, and tons of intonation travel. All that to say this instrument looks the part, plays incredibly well, and sounds chimey and wonderful. The pickguard has suffered the dreaded off-gassing of vintage nitrocellulose plastics, wherein it shrinks over time, causing it to pull away from the original screw mounting positions cracking the material in the process. That being said, this guard still fits extremely well, despite the two top mounting points being broken. The original finish has those deep finish checks so common on Italian made instruments, but it's all very solid, and still has a beautiful polished lustre. We're very confident that a nicer playing/sounding example of this particular instrument would be hard to find. Everything needed to take this guitar to it's full potential has been dialed in. If you want a nice playing, great looking vintage instrument that's plays well and won't break your pocket-book, this is your chance! Comes with the original bridge cover (fully removable), original matching Hardshell Case (fantastic shape), original VOX branded 60's guitar cable, and a truly funky vintage strap! As always, please feel free to make an offer, the worst I can say is "No Grazie!" Don't sit on this, just in time for the upcoming Christmas Rush. COME AND GET IT!!
