Here’s an opportunity to purchase an affordable, Gibson-made, old-growth Korina… but probably not in the format you’d first expect! This super cool 1961 Gibson Skylark (EH-500) Lap Steel in Natural is made with the famed limba wood! This model was marketed as one of Gibsons’s entry-level lap steels at the time, which would explain the large numbers on the fretboard. This single coil is actually a Melody Maker pickup and provides a crisp, clean tone. You’ll notice that this lap steel also features two black Top Hat style knobs that were used on many other Gibson models of the time. One of our favorite touches of the model? The Gibson logo on the headstock is exactly the same as the one used on a Flying V!
