If you are looking than theres a good chance you know how rare a Stereo Output SG is. Legend has it that only 79 of these were made in 1972. Someone else has this same guitar listed here on Reverb at $14,500 but I can assure you that they do not own it anymore and I do and they haven't taken down the listing. While I do think this is still an incredible vintage instrument, in know way do I think it is worth that much though.
I am conflicted a little bit whether this was one of the 79 factory Stereo ouputs or someone made a SG Deluxe into a stereo output version. I could only find one other example where someone photographed the electronics and it too looked very similar to this one. The solder joints to the output switches are definitely not original. Also the body route to fit in the switch is very clean, but was done after body finishing. I can't think of a time I have seen Gibson do a route after finishing, but who knows during that era. However when looking at the electronics plate itself, the switches are in the correct spots and if it originally had the 3 way switch than I feel like that would have been bigger than these switch openings. So I will let you be the judge of that and be as transparent as possible on my end.
As for the condition... For its age it's in pretty good shape with no breaks or repairs present. There is some marks here and there as would be expected but by now means has it been abused. There is some finish cracking around the neck joint that would be typical with the age of the guitar.
The neck is straight and the frets are low and worn which would be expected from the age. This era has that super thin nut width. The bridge is all the way to the body so if lower action would be needed a neck reset would be the only option but I think it plays pretty good as is. It was freshly setup and ready to go.
Hardware and pickups appear to all be original.
Comes with original hard case as well.
