So here's something you don't see everyday. Offered is a 2010s Tatchi Dream Machine '60s Strat tribute to the Ferrari GT 250 Lusso. Tatchi PGK is a renowned boutique lutherie workshop in Seoul, led by master builder P.G. Kim, which specialises in handcrafting supreme high quality Fender style musical instruments utilising period correct techniques and materials. They tap-tone each build from AAA+ aged tonewoods and craft everything by hand, including winding their own pickups, casting optimized 'sound steel' fittngs, and formulating their own historically-accurate nitro lacquer finishes. Like Moollon, they're renowned among pros in the know for their amazing basses, and would craft custom guitars on a special order basis. Their instruments are top notch, often played by artists and session professionals in that region of the world. Feel free to Google them for more specs and sound samples. I originally acquired this instrument from a K-Pop artist who was returning to the ROK for mandatory military duty after graduate school, so this is one of only a handful of Tatchi's in existence Stateside. Like they say the riches are in the niches. The guitar has been played, and does show light player wear and some natural relicing which adds mojo and does not affect playablity. At a glance, it features a maple neck, slab rosewood board, and an alder body accented with classic 60s Ferrari aesthetics. There are moderate cosmetic bumps and bruises consistent with a professionally gigged instrument, but nothing that really jumps out at you. The Monstertone style pickups sound rich and articulate, with clear and balanced tones that could be shaped and nuanced via the three Dream Machine style switches, 5-way selector, and master volume + tone controls. Whilst a traditional Schecter Dream Machine would only switch each pickup on/off/coil tapped with the three switches, this Tatchi Dream Machine expands the tonal possibilities with the additional 5-way. That said, the guitar plays and sounds great, with a colourful palette of useful tones. It plays, resonates, and handles like a true pre-CBS '60s Fender, complete with aged nitro aroma and artisanal craftsmanship. The set will be shipped in the premium fitted Suhr USA Strat hardshell case, as pictured. Please review all photos carefully as they're an integral part of the item description.
