Here is our brand new and custom made 16” Teardrop Acoustic Archtop model from the History’s Legacy Collection :

Based on its smaller sister, the 15” Concerto Signature model line, the owner and I had a vision that would cross many decades from the history of the archtop guitars in America but also, the legacy that these moments in time brought to the advancing of what is to me, the most beautiful acoustic instrument there will ever be along it’s siblings from the string quartet family.

We decided to keep the best features from our Concerto Signature models and bring it to a higher level or craftsmanship while making a strong tribute to the legacy that John D’Angelico built with his beautiful instruments and his well-regarded Teardrop model he made and designed in the 50’s

This guitar has a wonderful choice of tonewoods that makes for a really expressive, responsive, and versatile instrument that shines in many styles of music and guitar playing. A side soundport was added for a more intimate relation between the player and his instrument. It is, like its base model the Concerto Signature, completely assembled like a string quartet instrument, with a traditional neck tenon and mortise, and the greatest care to graduation of the plates and tuning of the whole instrument and modes.

The braces are Rancourt Guitars' own original design, hand carved in the top itself to enhance the harmonic response, complexity and power. This helps reduce lost vibration through glued straight joints and to give a more balance natural tone and resonance to a wider frequency range throughout the top. That technique also allows for a more equal harmonic response on single notes, making the whole instrument's range sound fuller and deeper.

The result is a highly vibrant instrument with a very large dynamic range and a beautiful articulate voice.
