The acoustic bass. The mere mention of it‘s name can send a chill up the spine, but it has been undeniably present for some core moments of music history. Say what you will about MTV, from it's punk and alternative origins to where ever it was that it ended up with TRL, the "Unplugged" series brought some pretty incredible performances to the world where they may not have existed otherwise. You can argue about which one is the best forever, but I personally think that "Nirvana : Unplugged in New York" is not only the best acoustic album but also the best live album of any sort ever recorded. There's some other close seconds and honorable mentions. The R.E.M MTV Unplugged session is stunning. The Alanis one, though of considerably higher production than the coffee-shop vibes of the earlier ones, is a beacon of light and positivity for 90's humanity. The Neil Young one is great because he threw a tantrum and walked off, and the Oasis one is not only great musically but also was a tipping point moment between the feuding brothers where Noel sang every song while Liam was just visibly drunk watching from a balcony. Throughout each and every one of those performances, there's a certain polarized, occasionally loathed, and disregarded instrument that played every low end note of every song - the acoustic bass.

Some acoustic basses can be dull and thuddy and just not great, but this one actually sings like a bird. It feels and sounds great, and it's in super nice condition! One of the best acoustic basses I've ever played by far. The pickup sounds great for when MTV unplugged comes back, and it comes with the original Epiphone case. The strings are old but I like bass strings very worn in and I think they sound great. This one is from I believe around 2005. Great instrument!
