Incredible and affordable vintage electric archtop guitar! This beauty from Vega was most likely made in the early 1960s (if not late 1950s). Vega serial numbers can be difficult to decode. This model is listed as an "Odell" on the headstock, and the model number is C-26. Serial number is 8464. This guitar was built by the Vega company in Boston, MA.
You will be hard pressed to find a vintage archtop that sounds this good, at such an affordable price! This guitar has been completely overhauled: re-fretted, set up, and ready to play! The guitar was re-fretted by Matt Smith at 30th Street Guitars in NYC. Matt is one of the best in the business. All of the hardware is original - tuners, bridge, trapeze tailpiece, pickup, etc...only the frets have been replaced (which made this guitar very playable).
The original pickup sounds incredible! An actual D'Armond pickup! Guitar has top mounted volume and tone controls. Lovely acoustic response. Killer jazz tones, also makes for excellent rhythm and strum sounds. Oh, and it rocks, too.
This guitar has some wear...some scratches on the body, and wear on the back of the neck. None of these instances affect the playability.
I love this guitar, and hate to see it go...but had a lot of expenses recently and need to pass on a few items. This is a choice axe and I believe you'll love it!
