1978 Gibson 25/50 Anniversary Les Paul Tobacco Sunburst w/ Original Hardshell Case

Les Paul fans, we have a special guitar to share with you today. For sale we have a rare and collectible Les Paul 25/50 Anniversary model. This guitar was made to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Les Paul, as well as the 50th anniversary of Les’ musical career! This is essentially a Les Paul Custom but it’s dressed to the 9’s and tricked out with premium features that were never before seen on Les Pauls at the time.

This instrument looks incredible. The stunning maple cap sports a flame that spans the entire width of the top. It’s very 3D looking and gives this guitar a personality that is one of a kind. The intricate headstock inlay serves as a hallmark that formalizes this guitar as a highly coveted instrument. The mother-of-pearl Super 400 style split block fretboard inlays tie it all together for a unified aesthetic that screams premium.

This guitar is in very good condition. It has a few bumps and bruises but nothing too serious. A small chip on the top, as well as on the back of the neck near the 1st fret are the worst of it. They’re pictured for your consideration. It also has some genuine weather checking - the good kind - and a very typical neck joint finish crack that’s very common on 45 year-old Les Pauls. The pickups - a 57 Classic in the Neck and Classic Plus in the Bridge - although not original, are a great choice that keep the genuine Gibson Tone coming strong out of this guitar. Due to their 2 conductor wiring, the coil tap switch is currently non-functional, although can be wired up to trigger a mod of your choosing. The original TP6 tailpiece has been changed to a more traditional stop-bar as well.

The guitar is overall in great shape, and is both gig and studio-ready, should you choose to use it in such a capacity. The frets have been dressed and polished, the fretboard is well conditioned, and it’s been freshly strung with D’addario 10’s set to play low and easy.
