NTP System-65 1965

Congratulations! You have just found a pretty rare and vibey audiosystem that was custombuilt for Swedish Radio "SR" by Niels Tønnes Pedersen in Denmark 1965. It was used for the OB-buses and everything was custom made/ordered after their requirements. As you probably know, everything that was order by state institutes needed to be with the highest quality available.
Another scandinavian mention during this time that built systems for the state was Tore Seem (norway), and in the UK you you had BBC/EMI just to have a comparison on what we are dealing with.

What you see is the 2x preampstrips (4 channels each) and 1x masterunit that is solidstate smacked with lots of goodies inside! Soundwise, you will get a BIG and FAT sound with lots of power! Think of some other famous 60/70s preamps and soundwise, you´ll be pretty close :) They drive every microphone with ease and lots of headroom or just drive the preamps hot and get that a sweet harmonic distortion (just listen to the ”dirty” snare in my download)!!

The soundtest is a straight comparison with CAPI modules. Its only drums (4ch) and bass DI. AEA88, Bock iFET and SM57 were used. And please dont judge me on the drums. Not a drummer and I was in a rush but i think people get it :)

Please do also notice that the units are a little bit wider then standard 19" racks! All channels were tested in mid august 2023 and works fine! Might be some oxhidation due to them mostly being packed into suitcases and not used for a good year since im out on tour constantly.
System is located in my studio in Gothenburg, Sweden. We can either schedule a test with local pickup or a packing/transportation that suits both parts the best. It is quite heavy!

Whats in the kit?

- 2x Preampstrips (8ch in total)
- 1x Masterunit (summingmixer and powering the strips)
- 2x powersupplies (one is recently serviced!)
- 4x rackcases in wood!
- 3x original briefcases
- A box with manuals, various cables and old patchbay etc.

As of now, the masterunit is only powering up the preampstrips but it can also be used for summing or for additional preamps. I have however not used/tried it for summing and have therefour lowered my pricing for the next buyer to configure this on its own. It also used to bee in a rca equipped setup so Im also throwing in a Tascam LA-80 line converter (unbalanced to balanced). It is however possible to switch it out easily to balanced. I just havnt had the time… More on this under "MODS!?"...

Price is set to €6000 excluding shippingcosts since this is something we have to discuss together. It contains several cases and is quite heavy. I will also be able to handle the sale from sept 19th (coming home from tour)

MODS!?

Well, i have another of these 4ch preampstrips that i will never sell. It is enough for me. What i recommend doing to this system when there is time is to mod the preampstrips with their own external power supply so you dont have to use the masterunit to power it up AND so you only bring 1x preampstrip if you need to be mobile! Switch cables and make it fully balanced. Neither of this is hard but sure, it takes a bit of time. And either mod the masterunit to a fully summingmixer or make it as a 2channel preamp if more preamps are needed. Im sure there are more possabilties
