Steinway Model O Grand Piano 1906 - Ebony Satin

This is a beautiful 1906 classic Model O Steinway Grand Piano (5' 10¾"). Our family purchased the piano in the 90s from Case Brothers Pianos in Spartanburg, SC. For over two decades, it brought us great joy, filling our house with the rich, full sound that only a grand piano can provide. It has a warmth of tone and body that feels unique to older instruments. Guests and friends loved coming over to play it. It was the centerpiece of the home and social gatherings.

Now we are looking for new owners to shepherd it into its next phase. It's 117 years old, in excellent condition, and ready to play for another 100+!

In October, we had a piano technician review the instrument. Here's what we learned: the Steinway Model O was produced from 1900 - 1924, and wasn't available until it was relaunched again in 2006. The cabinet has minor wear and tear for a piano of its age. The hammers and strings don't show signs of deterioration. They were likely replaced in the 90s, giving them at least 40+ years of life before any replacement would be necessary. The regulation was performed by an expert.

The technician also noted that the wood being the age it is is a key part of the sound. "It takes decades for wood to adjust to becoming an instrument. This particular piano has had over 115 years to do that. It's adjusted quite beautifully. That's not a tone you'll find in a new piano."

After playing this piano for 20+ years, I can say wholeheartedly that the age does seem to give the instrument soul. Whether its a classical piece or jazz or an off-the-wall jam, it's depth and richness truly carry.
