Here is a vintage Ludwig S-100 Standard 5x14 snare drum in Very Good condition, originally finished in Blue Mist. Over the years, the wrap has faded into a convincing green-leaning Mist tone, a color shift seen on a number of Ludwig Blue Mist drums from this era. This example has aged particularly evenly, giving the drum a distinctive look while still showing its original Blue Mist color in the protected areas near the bearing edges. The internal muffler and Ludwig throw-off remain fully functional, and the drum is ready to play as-is.

Full Description
The Ludwig S-100 Standard was part of Ludwig’s Standard series, introduced as a more affordable line while retaining the same basic shell quality found in the company’s more expensive wood-shell drums.
This example is a 5x14 eight-lug snare originally finished in Blue Mist.
The most distinctive feature is the wrap itself.
Over time, the original Blue Mist has faded toward a greenish tone. The color change is fairly even across the exposed shell and gives the drum a unique vintage appearance. Near the bearing edges, where the wrap was less exposed to light, a narrow band of the original Blue Mist color remains visible. That contrast is shown clearly in the photos and is a useful reminder of how dramatically these finishes can age.
The fade is cosmetic and part of the drum’s history rather than a later rewrap or refinishing.
The internal muffler remains present and fully functional.
The Ludwig throw-off is also solid and operates properly.
The current heads still have plenty of usable life remaining.
This is best viewed as a straightforward vintage player: original finish, honest age, distinctive patina, and fully functional hardware.

Condition
Very Good vintage condition.
The wrap shows substantial but even age-related fading from its original Blue Mist toward a green-leaning shade.
A narrow band of less-faded original Blue Mist remains visible near the bearing edges.
The internal muffler and Ludwig throw-off are both fully functional.
The heads remain in good usable condition.
