This official Gibson Custombucker Humbucker Pickup has been exclusive to Gibson Custom Shop guitars for many years and is one of their most sought after humbuckers for being the closest pickup Gibson make to a vintage PAF, now their popularity has led to them becoming available as an aftermarket product within their Historic Collection pickup range.

Years of research and testing by Gibson engineers resulted in a formula and process that replicates the sonic magic of the original Patent Applied For humbucker pickups from the '50s, each Custombucker uses Alnico 3 magnets for a warm, sweet tone with vintage accurate 42 AWG wire and unbalanced coils that are left unpotted, the use of maple spacers helps to reduce unwanted vibrations, shielded single conductor braided push back hookup wire and a long leg base plate with 'patent applied for' sticker completes the pickup.
