Sadowsky Ultra-Vintage P (UVP) Bass

I am the original owner.

Custom built to order in the NYC shop in 2005. SN 4445.

Am selling it only because at 70 I am not inclined to play as much as I used to. I have played lots of P basses over my decades playing, and only one ever came close to this, a 1962 Precision I toured with back in 1982, which just happened to be Fiesta Red. But it was "close" only in terms of playability and feel. This bass is just special. Tone for days. Roger, et al., hit this one right out of the park.

Neck and body specs are early- to mid-60s "vintage" P bass.

Neck has 20-frets with 1.75-inch nut, standard “Vintage” P-bass width.

Slim and fast C-Shape "vintage" neck.

Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard (an option).

Full-size "vintage" P-bass body, chambered Swamp Ash.

Tortoise pickguard.

Faded Fiesta Red (option), or as I told Roger, "Campbell's Tomato Soup, with one can of milk" (nitro-cellulose lacquer).

Matching headstock (an option).

Chrome hardware.

Lollar P-Bass pickups, original to the bass as built.

Active 9-Volt Sadowsky Onboard Preamp.

Strung with Sadowsky Black Flats (original set of Sadowsky rounds included).

Original Sadowsky semi-hard case; all zippers work fine.

Only 8.02 lbs (see photo). A dream to play on a strap.

Because it has had flat wounds on it almost its entire life, the frets are in near-mint condition.

There is one tiny ding on the lower back that is so small it would not even show up after several attempts to photograph it. Otherwise, it would earn "mint condition."

Comes with a checkerboard strap with Dunlop Strap-Locks and the original “vintage” chrome pickup cover, which I never put on.

New, this bass would cost $6,675 from the NYC shop and require a six-month wait.
