The Serial Number is 47606, which dates it to 1962. The original owner was Bill Savidge who made the "Play Guitar With Chet Atkins" album in the 60's. He had a string of successful guitar instruction records and books and also worked for Gretsch. He had it modified in the late 60's it to match Chet's model. A copy of the album is included and you can see the same mods on the guitar Chet is holding. This one was not owned or played by Chet.

The neck pickup is a Super 'Tron (original pickup is not included). The pots are CTS and date to October 1966. The tuners were changed to Grovers, but are a little smaller than the originals. The old ones are included, but are in pieces and may not all be in working condition. The original bridge was changed to a vintage Gibson Tune-o-Matic with nylon saddles in 1968. The original bridge and wooden support is included. Lastly, the tremolo arm was changed and the original is included. All of the changed parts are vintage and from the 60's so you could restore it without too much trouble.

The body is in very good condition overall. The original walnut finish has checking throughout and some small dings around the edges, but is very clean overall. All of the binding is intact but it has started pulling away from the body a little bit on the lower cutout. The neck is straight and the frets show only light wear. It's in excellent playing condition. The fretboard is clean and the back of the neck has finish checking and small impressions, but no major issues. The headstock has some small dings around the edges and checking on the top, but no cracks or repairs. The nut is 1.66" wide, the neck measures 0.78" thick at the 1st fret and 0.90" thick at the 10th fret.

The gold hardware has some wear and oxidation, but everything's in excellent working condition. The pickups measure 4.20 Ω (Bridge) and 4.33 Ω (Neck). It comes with the original case which has some general wear on the outside. All of the latches and hinges are in excellent working order and the interior has no bad odors. The handle has been replaced and is broken, but I will try to install a new one before shipping. Any included paperwork and accessories are shown in the photos.

Actual weight for the guitar is 8 lbs 1 oz.

Please note that I do not set up my guitars before mailing. I have played it and everything is great as far as I'm concerned, but you may need to change the strings, adjust the action or do other maintenance to get it to your preferences.

I list some of my items on both eBay and Reverb. In the event that this item sells on both marketplaces before I can take the other listing down, I will honor the first sale and refund the second. There will be no exceptions to this!

SHIPPING

$200.00 for UPS Ground. This is only an estimate on the high-end and will probably be less if you are close to the West Coast. I will refund any overcharge if there is any left over beyond the postage and packaging costs. I mail all of my guitars inside guitar boxes and pad with biodegradable peanuts. Local pickup and payment in cash are available, so feel free to contact me if you're local and want to check it out.

TRADES

I am a dealer and am not looking for any more gear for myself. I may not be able to offer much credit on a trade since I'm buying to re-sell. With that said, I will only consider in-person trades due to shipping costs and taxes. Please do not contact me for a trade unless we can meet in person.

OFFERS

I price my guitars as low as possible and don't consider offers, so please do not ask for a lower price!
