I'm a luthier who specializes in original designs for solidbody electric string instruments. The item pictured here was a 3/4 size electric cello which was a custom build, but I happily make any size you wish!
Since I work with as much reclaimed/salvaged/etc wood as possible I can't replicate the exact same combinations of woods as you see here, but that ensures each instrument I make is wholly unique, and it allows me to offer my work at a lower pricepoint (I know, it's still expensive, but it's soooo much work!). ***If you have a particular wood in mind, we can absolutely use that, but the cost may increase***. We can work together to choose the woods you love the look of.
I am using planetary geared tuning pegs, which don't slip, eliminate the need for fine tuners on the tailpiece, and look just like traditional ebony tuning pegs. Pictured here is the original custom adjustable bridge which allowed the player to easily adjust the bridge height and even "tilt" from one side to the other to suit their taste, but I have more recently developed a design option that allows each string height to be independently adjustable!
The neck has an adjustable truss rod just like a guitar, so the cellist can hopefully adjust it to the degree of "scoop" or flatness they prefer as well. The cellist who ordered this did not want the fingerboard beveled under the C string, but I would default to including the bevel unless you request otherwise.
All the curves and angles are hand-carved, hand-sanded, hand-finished.
The pickup configuration is a piezo transducer mounted in the body underneath the bridge.
Will be shipped in a case.
It can take 2-4 months to build the instrument once it's ordered. I'm happy to answer any questions; thanks for reading!
