I purchased this Prophet VS from the widow of the original owner a few years back. Previously being an owner of a rackmount VS about 10 years back, I recalled how dire warnings were that these were ticking time bombs on music forums without proper care or maintenance. Thankfully we've come along way in the last few years, and so much technology and innovation has allowed us to continue to repair and maintain these wonderful instruments of yesteryear! With a dim screen and no joystick, the overall condition and functionality was severely in question; so I enlisted Mike Walters of Mystery Circuits of Chapel Hill, NC to do a complete overhaul and upgrade and replace whatever needed to be to ensure the unit would be future proofed!

If you're in the market for a Prophet VS I would highly strongly consider this unit. This synth will be professionally packed and shipped by the UPS store and includes (in a binder) the original owners manual.

Here's a complete list of the items repaired or replaced under my ownership:

Repair and Maintenance list (Completed March 2022)

• Replaced power supply electrolytic capacitors
• Replaced 3 voltage regulators on CPU board
• Replaced 4 voltage regulators on voice board
• Replaced BR2/3A battery
• Replaced broken data slider
• Replaced LCD display with new OLED display. Rewired to work with low voltage supply
• Cleaned all panel switches and pots. Cleaned joystick X Y pots, installed joystick knob
• Replaced every tantalum capacitor inside synthesizer with electrolytics of same value
• Replaced two FSR sensors for aftertouch, removed ribbon connectors and replaced with phoenix terminals
• Replaced old foam tape used to cushion sensors with weather stripping for aftertouch. Added rubber washers to hardware
• Calibrated aftertouch trim pots
• Reloaded factory patches over Sysex
