- There are some mics that claim to be studio workhorses, and then there are some mics that are studio workhorses. The Electro Voice RE20 is one of those mics that can really do it all! A long-time secret weapon of engineers in the know, the RE20 easily moves from kick drums to bass cabs, from vocals to guitar cabinets. It's been seen recently handling vocal duties for Radiohead's Thom Yorke among others, and it's been a long-time favorite of broadcasters. And unlike most directional mics the RE20 is virtually immune to proximity effect, letting you close mic a sound source while still capturing a natural sound. Fancy yourself a "real" engineer? You'd better have an RE20 in your mic locker.
