Jeff Loomis spent years as the guitar voice behind Nevermore and now Arch Enemy — two bands built on precision, high-gain tone that stays clear under distortion rather than turning into mush. The Devil's Triad is his signature pedal, and it's essentially a complete lead guitar toolkit in one box: analog overdrive, analog boost, digital delay, and digital plate reverb, each independently footswitchable.
The overdrive runs an analog op-amp circuit with soft clipping — tight and articulate rather than saturated and loose, which suits the picking precision Loomis plays with. The boost adds up to 20dB of clean output, which is enough to push the front end of an amp hard or simply cut through a dense mix. Separate input and output jacks for the delay and reverb mean you can route those effects through your amp's effects loop while keeping the drive section in front of the amp — a genuinely useful feature for players running wet/dry setups or channel switching rigs.
