Up for sale is this vintage circa 1967 Mosrite Serenade acoustic guitar. This is a very rare model and they are rarely seen on the market, especially in this kind of unmolested condition. That being said, this instrument will require some work to be playable and is offered "AS IS" and "AS FOUND", so please read the entire description and see all of the photos.
This guitar is cosmetically pretty clean, showing a few small dings, scratches, and scuffs. The original finish does show some checking along the sides and on the top, which we have tried to capture in the photos. It is all original, down to the original Kluson tuners, cream truss rod cover, and bridge saddle.
This guitar does have a few issues, including a center seam separation on the top (pictured) and the bridge is pulling under tension and will need to be reglued. The major issues are that the truss rod is broken, with the nut just spinning around and not tightening up and the fact that the instrument will need a neck set. As the instrument sits, we did tune it up to standard tuning for a moment to diagnose the issues and the neck is pretty straight as is under tension. With the right luthier, this could easily be one of the nicest Serenades out there but it's going to take some fairly intensive repair to get it there.
If you're a Mosrite collector, you know how hard these are to find and the condition that they're usually in. This one, while it needs some love, is still a nice example and will really shine with the right work done.
A well-worn gig bag will be included and the instrument will be well-packed to ensure safe shipping. Again, this one is sold "AS IS" and "AS FOUND".
