1981 Yamaha SJ-180 acoustic guitar made in Taiwan from 1981-1983, good condition with padded gig bag.
This SJ-180 has a small surface crack on top by neck, please see image. Does not affect integrity of this instrument, this guitar sounds bright and clean with good bass tone. There are scratches and some dings as expected for a 40 + year old instrument, but overall is in very good condition.
This Yamaha SJ-180 is solid and plays exceptionally well as Yamaha’s reputation with acoustic guitars has shown decade after decade.
Spruce top, mahogany back and sides; mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle. Comes with padded gig bag.
The Yamaha SJ-180 ("Semi Jumbo") was made between 1981 and 1985. This Yamaha model with a lower bout width of 15.5" and depth of 4.25" and a narrow waist at 9.625" puts it between an OM (Orchestra Model) and a 0000/M Grand Auditorium size. If your preference is for a smaller guitar compared to a dreadnaught this is a good choice. It is stated that although all-laminate construction, the SJ-180 vintage Yamaha model has a devoted following, especially with fingerpickers.
