This display has been designed specifically for the Machindrum and Monomachine. It will NOT work in the Octatrack Mk1. To make sure there is no confusion, the Octatrack Mk1 display has been produced with a white PCB. The MD / MM display is black.
The Octatrack Mk1 display is also available separately on Reverb.

Display will ship already soldered / pins attached, installation will require some soldering. However, its not difficult, the new display footprint matches the old one. No modifications or reconfiguring of any kind are required. Straight swap.
​​ New "taller" mounting points are included with the display. These leave the bezel positioned better in the chassis (graphics closer to the front panel) more optimal. You can remove the old ones, fit the new ones "If" you want. This should be done "before" soldering.
Test fit the display, fit everything together, when your happy with the new position. Solder the pins in place.
After ​installation, adjust contrast with the panel mount potentiometer on the PCB next to the display. then ​finally adjust backlight brightness on the display.
The display has a trimmer attached behind. It's adjustable with a small screwdriver.
The performance of this custom black display is very VERY good. All the black negative displays are very good. but occasionally, one particular batch turns out exceptional !
This batch of custom elktron displays are in that category. They are very close to OLED in appearance. If you have Mk2 Elektron stuff with OLED Displays, it'll look nice, in company with them. Won't look out of place.
This enhanced performance is due to clever backlight and bezel design, and also bezel pressure optimisation. that's the key to the display improvements. It looks nothing like a standard off the shelf display, which look dreadful. It's in a completely different league to anything else available.
Anyone who buys this, installs it, will not be disappointed. Guaranteed !
