Thanks for having a look at my listing!
I do have other guitars up for sale so please have a look at my other listings!
History:
This beautiful cabinet was born as a Silvertone Organ Amplifier in 1961, per what I presume are the original tubes that are still in the amp and functioning well.
How I Received It:
The veneer on this particular amp was nearly non-existent by the time I received it. After trying to see if I could work with the wood that was there, I decided to go with paint instead of stain.
Original Tubes in the Amp: One 12AX7A, One 12DW7, One 6V6GT, One 5Y3GT.
Modifications Made (in short):
· Cabinet Exterior: After long deliberations and because the orignal finish was so far gone, I decided to paint it instead of stain it. The metal face plate was decidedly gold in color, so I thought she deserved a true makeover in my best Gold Sparkle paint. I don't believe the grill cloth is original, but do know that it is very close to the same vintage as the amp, so I left that alone. There were no knobs for the controls, so I did add some very cool gold knobs on the front to add to the finish the vintage look and many, many coats of poly.
· Cabinet Interior: The amp was very mildly misbehaving when I first received it. Upon completing the refinish, my resident amp guru replaced one of the main capacitors. That's it! The original electronics including the original tubes still work!!! Similar in structure to a Fender Princeton Amp, the tone is VERY VINTAGE. And, as you likely already know there is no substitute for a vintage amp with vintage tubes through an original alnico speaker! Full Disclosure: The Vibrato barely works. My amp guru did his best to fix it but was unable to figure it out.
It is a VERY lightweight amp! Only 20 lbs!
Dimensions:
Cabinet: 22“ x 22” x 10” (including 4" legs)
Holds:
Speakers: Original 12 inch Alnico speaker
Amp: Original Silvertone Amp
