Vintage 1985 Gibson Matthias Jabs (Scorpions) Custom Shop Explorer Electric Guitar w/ Gig Bag!

Up for sale is this vintage 1985 Gibson Custom Shop Explorer electric guitar. This is the extremely sought-after Matthias Jabs Designer Series model, complete with black stripes.

This guitar has seen heavy, heavy use over the years leading to the original white finish yellowing heavily. There are numerous dings, scratches, and scuffs as well as some touch up (mainly on the back edge, pictured). There is evidence of removed stickers below the Kahler and between the pickups. The bridge pickup ring is worn down from use (pictured) and really gives an insight into how much this guitar was played. There are no cracks, breaks, or other structural issues.

The instrument all original with the exception of the jack plate, one string hook on the Kahler, a few missing back plate screws, the knobs, the missing tremolo arm, and the strap buttons.

Our tech just went over this one and cleaned up a few solder joints, sprayed out the electronics, and gave it a quick set up after replacing the Kahler string hook. He noted that the bridge pickup, while it does make noise, is very thin sounding and does not register on the meter, effectively meaning that the bridge pickup is dead. Everything else works exactly as it should. The instrument has fretwear which leads to some fret buzz in a few spots on the neck, but nothing major and the action has plenty of room to come up if you're heavy handed. It's currently set up with very low action and plays great.
