----------------------------------------THE NEW MKII VERSION------------------------------------------
The 'Ground & Pound MKII' was developed behind the idea of having a Rat style pedal and a Bass Equalizer combined into a single unit, at its core. The great advantage of this design is that one can explore the gritty character of this distortion type while retaining its low end.
From thereon, this design, has evolved into a more versatile and complex unit, on the MKII, while retaining its simplicity of use and versatility .
The G&P MKII shines when playing, aggressively, on a low/mid gain setting, with a pick or with fingers and is a very well rounded bass box.
- "DIS" controls the amount of gain/overdrive/distortion. Special attention was put into this control, on the MKII version, to keep the volume more linear when increasing the gain control.
- "EQZ" tilt control (centered around 250Hz), allows for easy and quick tone shaping on the distorted signal.
-When the EQZ pot is at 12, the EQZ control sits flat.
-Clockwise, frequencies above the tilt point get boosted while the ones below get attenuated. -Anti-clockwise, the frequencies below the tilt point, get boosted while the ones above get attenuated.
- "MIX" allows the player to blend the "clean" signal with the distorted signal with an interesting twist. The clean signal has very light compression (2:1 ratio) which adds 'feel' to the playing experience and melds very well with the distorted signal, giving it somewhat of a tube amp vibe when playing.
- "VOL" acts as a Master Volume for the whole unit.
- "Mode Switch" selects between two voicing's :
-'Ground': is a new voicing which has a deeper cut and is more modern sounding. -'Pound': is the standard (RAW) version of the pedal.
-" Pad switch"- if you are using a very hot instrument you can use this attenuator switch to keep things more under control.
"Being a huge Justin Chancellor (and Tool) fan, I have always admired his bass tone and have always tried to emulate it. At some point, during my band years, I was running 3 pedals in simultaneous just to get that JC standard distorted sound which led us to this very moment...; Now, there is no longer the need to use that Turbo distortion pedal plus a separate EQ...."
The Ground & Pound is Lusithand's take on Justin's gritty, stick-out-of -the-mix, distorted sound. We believe it does a good job at it but it's not, by any stretch, a one-trick pony. The distortion has been carefully tailored and eq'd to have a full frequency spectrum, sounding full bodied and cutthroat.
The Ground & Pound, despite its origin of concept, is very versatile, when combining all the provided tools for tone shapping. It shines when using a pick and digging into the strings at lighter gain settings or it can smash your face in when using it at higher gain settings with both finger style and pick.
