Here we have a killer original pair of vintage KM84’s with original 84 cardiod capsules in fantastic condition, cases not included. These sound incredible and have lived most of their life as overheads above a drum kit in a smoke free/pet free studio.

These are absolutely fantastic sounding microphones that won’t disappoint on anything you throw at them. You can hear these exact two on a SDC VS LDC shootout video that was just recorded in April 2023 (attached in this listing). They both went up against a $30,000 vintage AKG stereo C24 LDC and won for drum overheads, hands down. Nothing can touch the original km 84’s on drums, cabs and acoustic guitar. They also shine on vocals!

They remain kings of the SDC In most peoples book. It’s even said the entire album Dark Side Of The Moon was tracked with a single MK84!

Very Close serial numbers puts them to be built the same year, possibly even within months of eachother: 54706 and 58660. They sound very similar to eachother and perfect for stereo recordings.

Both are in perfect working order and the inner components are all original, unmolested and untouched. Both have the badges and both have all three set screws which tend to fall out over time since they’re the absurdly small size of a stunted knat.

The listing also includes one original Neumann leather case with a new red lining (bottom) and one off brand case for the other mic. Both -10db pads work fine. It looks like someone intentionally removed one of the tiny bars in the vent grill, possibly to open up the movement in the backplate (which would theoretically increase bass response… possibly?) but both mics still sound the same to me. For full transparency another small aesthetic point of interest is that one badge looks to be ever so slightly off kilter Ed. You can remove it and straighten it out if you like but I don’t want to mess with it, or care at all really. took me 3 years to even notice because it’s so slight. If you didn’t notice from viewing the images and got this far, you shouldn’t care either. Just like many of my online sales, there are no returns unless arrive damaged.
