King Super 20 Professional Tenor Sax! I wanted to learn Tenor Sax so I bought this a few years ago because I believe a top quality instrument inspires the player. Only problem is, my wife says I already have and play too many instruments! So I kept it in its case and never even told her I have it.
It is really nice. Only ding I could find is in the lead pipe (pictured) Excellent for a 52 year old vintage instrument. The King serial number site shows it as being on the lower side of 1970 - 1975. I did put it together and I was able to play a scale or two on it so it seems like everything works.
The case has been duct taped (pictured) but it seems solid and I don't know why the former owner did that. He had it serviced before I bought it but I see a little darkening on some of the pads. I really know nothing else about it. I suggest that the lucky buyer take it to a good shop and have them assess the playing condition and I have priced it so there is room to be sure it is in top shape. I bought it from a doctor who was very nice and helpful with best intentions that would inspire me to play so not just a seller but a player who was very into Saxophones. I will include a Yamaha mouthpiece which, he told me was a good starter mouthpiece and 3 new reeds.
What I read online says that this is a professional Jazz Saxophone and compared it favorably to the top rated Selmers.
