Used - Good Condition

  • Body, Bell, and Leadpipe: heavy lacquer and finish wear can be easily seen on the body, bell, and leadpipe along with some noticeable scuff marks and scratches and bit of pitting in some areas; a few small dents can be found on the bell tubing and the body tubing, however the bell flare and the leadpipe appear to be free of dents and dings, although it looks the leadpipe bracing on the mouthpiece receiver has been re-soldered at some point
  • Slides and Valves: the main tuning slide and the finger slides all move nice and smoothly, and all the valve caps twist on and off very easily; the valve casings all show the same heavy wear found on the body, bell, and leadpipe
  • Keywork and Playability: the keys show some noticeable wear in the finish, but are not bent and they all move properly
  • Includes: professional model trumpet, 2 x 7C mouthpieces, and Holton hardshell case

  • Made in Fullerton, California, U.S.A.

Made 65 years ago, when the Olds facility was located in Fullerton, California, this vintage trumpet shows some years cosmetically, but not in its immense sound. In the late 1940s Mexican virtuoso solo trumpeter, Rafael Méndez, was signed on to be an Olds clinician and endorsor. The Mendez trumpet was put into production in 1952 and was based off of the F. Besson Meha trumpet used by Mendez. These were professional trumpets accepted as equal to or better than what was currently on the market. The Mendez trumpet was used and endorsed by the likes of David Jandorf and Clyde McCoy. Ideal for jazz, classical, or pop music, this F.E. Olds Mendez trumpet will cover that ground and more!
