This Guitar is in excellent condition and has been well taken care of, it has been kept up mechanically and aesthetically over the past 60+ years of life on the road, in the service, on the stage, in the pen, and in the studio. One would say-“If this guitar could talk,” my reply- yeah right- this guitar does more than talk- it sings like a dove, it cries like a hound, Praise like an angel , screams like a demon and it howls like a wolf, and all that it’s been through comes out of it like a River overflowing deep and broad, powerful, and infinitely expansive in rich tone and sustain. it will change your life, everyone who’s ever held it or listened to it would bear witness.. It can and will make dreams come true.
My father bought it second hand in 71 or 72 in mint condition., he played the Appalachian fiddling conferences, northeastern, and Kentucky Bluegrass Heritage jamborees, County Fair, Rodeo circuits, the Ohio Sternwheeler Regatta, Blue Ridge livestock auctions, gospel prison missions, as well as every honky-tonk, juke joint, biker bar, and dew drop inn that would cover the expense for his band the Chicago Express to make the gig. He was most proud to have played it as accompaniment for Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner, long before Kenny Rogers lured her away with promises of rotisserie chickens and tropical islands. I witnessed it played with some lesser known musicians like Earl Scruggs, Lester Flat, Ricky Scaggs, Marty Robbins, Johnny Paycheck and Bill Monroe, the salty dogs and the like.
He gave it to me when I was 25 maybe 26 and I put even more miles and more stories into her headstock ever since. Pawn shops, prisons, planes and trains, greyhound buses, house parties and probation offices.
Now shes about 2 be 55 and I’ve made my peace with my father’s memory, He's been gone 13 yrs and I accidentally smashed the Martin he left behind and it scares me to carry the guilt of anything happening to that dove. He only ever showed me how to play one song on it, the house of the rising son- no i spelled it the correct way..... I believe he would understand and agree but if not then he should have kept it to himself. I think I have made up my mind to let this go and get a guitar of my own to leave my son one day? I’ve become pretty soft on those new ESP sc neck though eclipse models, the BB made in Japan (updated; i now have that exact eclipse) or possibly a semi hollow as long as it can sing to me. There’s a couple schecters that I’ve been eyeing up as well , the elite evil, or blacked out sun valley shredder (updated; i also now have an elite evil twin, 4st sls ) , but for what this guitar is worth I’d say I should be able to take my pick.-currently pretty infatuated with the rgrbb621 ibanez blacked out neckthrough baritone, and any blackstar st james 6L6, series one or Metal ampifiers, i'd make one ridicuosly unfair trade for any of those. Comes with original Case and a much better case to take care of it , serious inquiries please I’ll be more than happy to give more information and give detailed photos but I'm not putting it up "on sale" I am making it available for new ownership, acquisition, an adoption if you Could understand
