Tokai Silver Star SS38 Mid-80's - Black w Upgrades!!

Tokai Silver Star SS38. A great playing Stratocaster with very upgraded pickups from Porter pickups in Boise Idaho..

They are the Porter Hybrid Plus Stratocaster single coils. ($240) made in Boise Idaho by Porter pickups..The guitar is wired so that the second tone knob is a blender for the bridge and neck pickups. If you select the bridge pickup you can blend the neck pickup into it and vice versa..

When it is fully open it has no effect and the guitar is just a normal Stratocaster with a 5-way switch and the first tone knob is used on all pickups. This way you are able to get a lot of different tonal combinations..

:( The only visible dings on the guitar are series of drumstick marks made by a baby ..small dents in the finish.

Also, the bridge was upgraded as well to a Wilkinson by Gotoh.. I put this on because it has better adjustments and designed so the screws don't stick up so you can rest your hand on the bridge when you play. I highly recommend these bridges for that particular problem.

The guitar has been fully set up at Gates Guitar Repair in Boise.. the neck  is fast and responsive, a really nice neck with plenty of fret life. I believe these were made at the Fujigen? factory in Japan and it certainly rivals fender Stratocasters made in the same era.
