1967 Yamaha SB-5A, the Flying Samurai - a true classic of 60s design and Japanese craftsmanship.
Versatile range of sounds with the pickup placement and blend knob- very traditional sounds on the neck pickup with the tone rolled back with the bridge pickup being surprisingly aggressive/strong and ideal for fuzz etc
The neck on this is a dream. It's so thin and quick and easy to navigate all the way up and down- truly the highlight of the bass. Surprising given the appearance, but it's an incredibly ergonomic bass - weight distribution is absolutely perfect and the contours of the body are ideal for both sitting and standing.
Pickups have been wax potted and the bridge cover/mute is long gone, but otherwise original. Imported from Japan by me and always professionally maintained. Comes with the tapewounds that I got it with which sound perfect.
Original finish slowly turning green over time - looks unreal in person.
Comes with new hard case.
Happy to discuss shipping options with international buyers - DHL would be the default.
