A rare example of a Leo Fender-designed 5 string bass. This bass was allegedly the last project Leo worked on, so has a special place in bass history. Only about 400 were made and it was dropped from the line up shortly after Leo passed away. Leo designed a unique Z-coil pickup as an update to the traditional P-bass pair,. The bridge & pick-guard are finished in matt black powder coated aluminium.

This one (serial B020242) is an all original US-made L5000 in mint condition - not a scratch - and comes in its original hard-shell case (case has some dings as it was shipped from New York to Dublin by a previous owner 16 years ago). The body is stamped 02 June 1989, and the neck 01 Feb 1990. I added the black flat wounds - D’Addario Nylon Tapewound ETB92-5 (50-65-85-105-135) - they look like they were made for the dark blue body and black and silver hardware. I will include the original strings (standard round wounds, no idea what make).

I’d love to keep it but I’m not a 5 string player and it would be a shame to just hang it on the wall. Can’t do swaps as I’m downsizing at the moment.
