Portable and equipped for standalone or USB-anchored operation, the Digiface AES from RME is a versatile 14x16 digital audio interface with 30x16 routing capabilities and convenient class-compliant functionality. The Digiface AES sports pristine quality 24-bit / 192 kHz digital audio with an advanced SRC circuit (sample-rate converter) that can fix clocking issues or adapt the sample rate on any digital input, and control of these functions is easy through a bright LCD screen, intuitive interface, and a plethora of free digital tools that further augments the Digiface's functionality. Digiface AES features wide ranging analog and digital I/O to handle any scenario including 8-channel optical ADAT or 6-channel optical SPDIF, 6-channel coaxial SPDIF, AES/EBU over XLR 3-pin, MIDI I/O, two channels of analog combo XLR/1/4" input with selectable 48V phantom power, and four channels of analog output through XLR line outs and stereo 1/4" headphone output, all fed to a host program over simple USB 2.0 connectivity. With an exceptional set of digital functions, such as built-in parametric EQ, standalone operation, and flexible playback or monitoring via TotalMix FX, the DigiFace AES excels as an ideal all-in-one solution for recording, routing, and playing back analog or digital sources in studio or stage applications.

For the main inputs, RME uses the proven mic/line preamps in XLR combo configuration of the Babyface Pro FS. Two digitally controlled preamps provide individually switchable 48V phantom power. These circuits feature a gain range of 75 dB, adjustable in steps of 1 dB, including a relay-driven PAD, resulting in exceptional EIN performance as well as line overload protection, and enough gain for even the lowest-level microphones.
